One of many new features that will be coming in ZCS 5.0 off the top list of RFEs is the ability to search calendar. You can also tag calendar events and flag appointments. We took a short screencast of searching the calendar, flagging appointments and tagging.
In this screencast it shows the HTML lite client. Searching both local and shared/mounted calendars. The demo also applies tags and searches or lists appointments by tag. Take a look and let us know what you think!

Two other RFE’s I’d very much like included in Zimbra 5 or sooner are:
1. Delegated (shared) Mailbox/Mail Folders in web client Bug #9396, and
2. SUSE Enterprise 10 (SLES10) Support for Open Source (& Network Edition) Bug #10462
Also, has there been any progress on the Instant Messaging integration?

Looks really nice, but I have one *major* question… What about searching for appointments that aren’t in view?
I doubt people need to search within the current month being displayed to find an appointment. A more likely scenario is a user trying to find an appointment that happened last year (sometime), or an appointment on another user’s calendar that happened or is going to happen whenever.

Right now it will only show appointments in your view. In the future we’ll add a list view (like mail, contacts) which can be unbounded by date and allow you to search easily into the future or back to the past.

I believe searching in the current view is pretty much useless (as John Dell points out). If I already knew when the appointment approximately was, I’d find it without search support.
BTW, you don’t mention the release date for 5.0.
